Prevention Starts With Each Of Us

  • Create a Safer Home

Research indicates that reducing access to lethal means could make the difference between life and death. Removing access to lethal means creates time and distance for the individual experiencing suicidal ideation to identify alternative solutions that do not involve suicide, including reaching out for help. To learn more about reducing access to lethal means and the research behind it visit the Suicide Prevention Resource Center.

  • Guard Your Heart and Mind

The Bible encourages us to guard our heart (Psalm 19:14, Proverbs 5:23-24)) and our mind (Philippians 4:8, 2 Corinthians 10:5). Our thoughts (cognitions) and our emotions (feelings) can impact our behavior. Learn more about therapeutic approaches that may help in guarding your heart and mind.

  • Find Your Community

You were not created to do this journey alone. Belonging to a community can be a protective factor against suicide. The Bible says, “though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12). We are stronger together.
