Teenagers

Teenagers are young people between 13 and 19 years of age. These years encompass the bulk of adolescence. During these years, young people experience a significant amount of development and change. Teenagers experience change in several areas including physical growth, cognitive development, social interactions/connectedness, and emotional intelligence. It is sometimes hard to know if changes that are occurring are typical adolescent development or an indication that the young person may be experiencing a mental health challenge. It is important that the caring adults in a young person’s life are aware of of signs and symptoms that indicate a young person might be experiencing a mental health challenge and that they seek appropriate professional help when needed.
