Young Adults

The term “young adult” typically refers to the ages between 18 and 26 years old. During this age range, the young person may experience a variety of transitions such as ending one phase of life (ex. living at home, attending high school, relying on parents/caregivers for basic needs, etc.) and beginning another phase of life (ex. moving away from home, living alone, beginning technical school or college, entering full-time employment, relying on self for basic needs, etc.). During this phase of life, similar to the early years, the brain experiences significant changes in development which impact the young person’s ability to cope with and navigate all of these life changes. In addition, young adults often begin developing more complex relationships during these years and many even enter marriage and begin their own family formation.
